Hustling to catch the ferry with 100 yards to go, I could see the attendant putting the chain on the entryway, then I heard the captain revving up the engines, so I stopped running as they pulled off for the quick cruise from Jersey City to Lower Manhattan.
I spent the next seven minutes reflecting on what just occurred as a pleasant way to pass the time while waiting for the next ferry. What’s most funny is that in my early 20’s, watching that ferry float away would have pissed me off! Nevertheless, at this moment, it was no big deal because it afforded me extra time to sit outside and enjoy another warm November evening counting my blessings.
Then, right on cue, I heard a loud frog horn, signaling that the next ferry was nearby, and I watched as it coasted into the terminal. I finished typing this thought into my phone and got back in line to make sure I didn’t miss this water taxi.
Time flies when you’re having fun. Lol!
I will end this post with one of my favorite quotes – “People do not realize the immense value of utilizing spare minutes” ~ Orison Swett Marden.
Stay positive, safe, and enjoy your evening! 😊
