I was driving down Broadway on my way to Central Park super early this morning to meet up with my jogging crew when it just so happen that I passed by the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts.
It's been a while since I last strolled around this legendary place, and with thirty minutes to spare, I said to myself, what the heck, let's do it!Now in an exploring mood, and my writing powers fully activated, I clicked on my left turning signal, made a left-hand turn with my gold SUV at the next traffic light, and rode up Columbus Drive, hoping to find free parking on the side of the street.
As luck would have it, I found a spot on the corner of Columbus Drive and 60th Street, right next to the Fordham University Lincoln Center Campus.
Let me tell you, it was a very tight space to get in, and I recall thinking, thank goodness for the invention of the backup camera because, without it, I probably would not have attempted to back in and parallel park in this spot.
In doing so, I bet that I saved myself at least 30 bucks in parking fees, so this was my first big win of the day!
Before I began my stroll, I stopped at a street food vendor to grab a fresh cup of authentic Colombian coffee (slide-6) and a poppy seed bagel, toasted to perfection with some Philadelphia creme cheese on top.
When I took my first bite, I immediately heard that lovely crunching sound from the bagel as it melted in my mouth. It was so good that I closed my eyes for two seconds to savory the taste while appreciating this moment.
Back on the move now, I started crossing the street, and in the process, I noticed two #nyc ABC News television anchors preparing to deliver the morning news. When I made eye contact with one of the anchors, he started waving, and of course, I waved back in kind.
I soon landed in front of Juilliard (slide-10), right across the street from the Lincoln Center. I could not help but think of a childhood friend who went to Juilliard, whom I haven't spoken to in a couple of years.
As I stood in front of her former school and thinking about her chasing her dream, I knew at that moment that I should give her a call and will reconnect with her later this afternoon.
Do you have someone you've been thinking about that you need to call? If so, make the call today.
I continued with my impromptu walking tour, and please allow me to add; I appreciate you joining me in spirit via this post, and I trust you are enjoying the slide show that I've shared for your viewing pleasure. 😊
Well, friends, it is now time for me to hustle over to Central Park to link up with my jogging crew, so I have to end it here.
Closing thought: Beauty is always around us, and with that thought, I encourage you to find time this weekend to stop and explore an area or place that you may have taken for granted and truly appreciate its splendor.
So, are you doing anything interesting this weekend that you want to share?
Have a wonderful weekend!
