I had to head over to Bergen County right after work this evening, and since I did not feel like driving and battling rush hour traffic, I elected to take the train.
Before I knew it, I found myself standing in front of the schedule monitor at the Hoboken Station, checking to see when my train would arrive. When I realized that I had 17 minutes to go before my train pulled into the station, I decided to take a quick stroll to let my mind wander and pass by the time.
As a result, I began walking around the terminal, and just a few steps into my walk, I felt a sudden desire to start writing in my journal app. Let's do it!
So without further thought, I glanced around and then began mentally processing everything along with the movement of the people in my direct line of sight.
I noticed several folks getting off a train to my left, many of whom looked very happy, while a few appeared exhausted from what I am guessing must have been a long day at work. Indeed, we all can relate to both groups of individuals, and as for me, in case you are wondering, I felt super relaxed at this moment.
As I continued roaming around, out of nowhere, I heard the sound of a loud horn, which startled me for a second! Initially, I thought it came from behind me, thinking it was probably another train about to glide into the station.
However, because I had my noise-canceling Bose Headphones on, I was fooled and came to find out that it was coming from a ferry that was docking on the other side of the terminal.
I got a good chuckle out of this experience and then went back to strolling the area. The next thing I knew, I had only had a minute to go before my locomotive would be arriving, and when I looked down the tracks, I could see it inching its way into the station.
I hurried to the platform area where I wanted to board the train and waited with the rest of the soon-to-be passengers.
And with that, this story is about to end, as I am now boarding the train. Thankfully, I was fortunate enough to find a seat as soon as I got on.
After sitting down and getting comfortable, I pulled out a printed copy of the Wall Street Journal, flipped it to the economy section, and read it on the way to Bergen County. Lol!
Well, friends, just another day in Sledgeville, and I trust that you enjoyed our latest spur-on-the-moment walk together.
Have a pleasant evening. 😉
