With nothing planned this evening except for getting my exercise steps in, I decided to make an impromptu visit to Hudson River Park to complete my move goal and for some much-needed fresh air. Let’s go!
After arriving and getting my steps in, I figured it would be wise to find a place in the park to sit and cool down. Eventually, I landed at a spot right beside the river that provides a spectacular view of lower Manhattan and Jersey City, both at the same time.
Once settled in, I began observing my surroundings, and the first thing that caught my eye was the sight of the red and white FDNY fireboat parked near Chelsea Piers. Since I rarely get a chance at such a good look at this fireboat, I seized the opportunity for a closer look with the skylines of my two favorite cities in the background. Are you ready?
So, I quickly made my way up to the top of a hill in the park to get a better view and began scrutinizing this gorgeous ship in great detail. Shortly after that, I started scanning the area with my five senses alert, thus fully capitalizing on the splendor of this moment.
As I continued looking around, I noticed a black and white flag towards the back of the ship, flapping in the wind, and a silver tugboat cruising up the Hudson on the upper right side of this picture. I then felt a slight vibration coming from underneath my feet while watching the tiny ripples on top of the water move so nicely.
Please indulge me now and advance to the third slide in this post. When you see the image, pause for a second, and envision me slowly moving my eyes towards the New York City side of the Hudson River.
And with that, you have just mentally transported yourself right next to me, and we are admiring the view of the West Side Highway, all the way down to the World Financial District, where the Freedom Tower is standing #NYSTRONG. Are you having fun?
You ask me a few questions about the city, and of course, I respond with my unique perspective, and then we both take a deep breath, look around one last time, and soak it all in. 😊
My parting message is that I find tremendous joy in living in the present moment and spending time with you. I hope you enjoyed our few minutes together on a lovely Wednesday evening in June.
All kidding aside, I had no intention of posting tonight or even writing in my journal; however, the inspiration to write comes when it comes, and when it does, I encourage all of us to embrace it.
Bear in mind, the experience I just shared happened within ten minutes and took another seven minutes to write. As a result, I can now easily recall this memory because I took the time to document it.
Have a lovely evening.
