When I got word last week that my June book club meeting will be held at the Sand Beach by the Hudson River, I was overjoyed! Why? It happens to be one of my favorite go-to places when I want to contemplate life, and as a bonus, it's close to my house.
So, after waking up and getting dressed on this cloudy Saturday morning, I decided to head over to the meetup spot an hour early and use the time to reflect on the past week. Let's go!
The second I landed on the artificial beach sand area, I quickly secured a place to set up and grabbed enough Adirondack chairs for the rest of the book club crew. Then, I pulled out an oversized checkered pattern beach towel, laid it down on the sand ever so gently, followed by kicking off my blue flip-flops and laying down.
Once I got comfortable, it was time to reflect! Even though I had lots of beautiful thoughts on my mind, I chose to concentrate on a central topic to ponder, ensuring that I made the best use of my focus time before the book club members arrived.
Without even realizing it, forty-five minutes had flown by, then, all of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I could see the first member of the crew speed walking in my direction, which captured my attention. As she got nearer, she began waving her hands in a way that made me laugh!
What's funny is that she's usually late and is the person in the group who never finishes reading the book yet, always has the most to say.
A few minutes later, the entire crew was assembled, sitting in a circle sipping on coffee and having a lively discussion about the book. Admittedly, I have a great appreciation for learning different viewpoints in this type of forum, especially from these individuals, all true thought leaders in their own right.
After wrapping up our conversation, we spent an additional twenty minutes chopping it up and then departed. But before leaving, I got everyone together for a group photo to include in my journal. And, of course, I wrote this journal entry on the way home and posted a portion on LinkedIn while sitting at a table outside of a nearby café.
For your viewing pleasure, I've attached a couple of shots from this experience that you can flip through at your convenience.
Well, Linkedin fam, this is what inspired me to write today. I would be thrilled if you shared this post with a friend so that we can provoke a bunch of smiles on this platform. 😊
So, how did you start your weekend?
BTW—We read the first draft of the book I am writing, so stay tuned…
