9/11 Memorial & Museum

I was up early this Saturday morning, watching the 6 am local news, and as one would expect, on September eleventh, most of the coverage centered around 9/11. Moreover, the events of that tragic day have recently been on my mind, which led me to have some meaningful conversations with family and friends about it throughout this week.

Like many in my inner circle, I knew people in the Twin Towers, and 20 years later, it is still difficult for me to fully comprehend all that transpired on that horrific day.

Additionally, I watched a feature documentary on MSNBC titled "Memory Box: Echoes of 9/11" a couple of days ago, which painted an intimate portrait of #resilience, and I was touched by all of the personal stories shared.

With all the activities, tributes, and media coverage regarding 9/11 in #NYC this week, naturally, I felt a strong desire to reflect. As a result, I decided that this morning was the right time to do just that.

So without a second thought, I put on my navy blue New York Yankee baseball hat, a matching blue jogging suit, and my most comfortable walking sneakers, and I headed over to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum to pay my respects. #neverforget

After exiting the World Trade Center subway station and making my way outside, I immediately felt a sense of somberness in the atmosphere. As I made my way towards the 9/11 Memorial & Museum area, I saw lots of people walking around, and by the looks of things, it appeared that many were out-of-towners. I also noticed several TV reporters interviewing people and reporting live, more than usual.

Admittedly, I still get a bit emotional whenever I am in this area, and today was no different. It's rare that I ever talk about this, and this is the first time I've shared my thoughts on a social media platform, which I felt inspired to do on this day.

So as you read my words and imagine yourself taking this stroll along with me, I want you to know that I feel your presence and appreciate you sharing this moment with this proud native New Yorker—United We Stand!

For my closing thought, I respectfully ask that you review a picture I took of a quote by the Roman Poet Vigil, painted on a mural near the One World Trade Center building, which you can find on the last slide.

Well, LinkedIn fam, as I sit here on the train typing this journal entry on the way home, this is what was on my heart this morning, and I thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Until we again meet next Saturday at 11 am EST, I wish you a peaceful weekend.

#unity #newyork #mindfulness
